Food box mockup FAQ

Short answers about choosing, printing and showing food boxes.

Can I design my own food packaging?

Yes. Pick a food box here, type the inside size, click Upload artwork and render the image in your browser. Then export the dieline as a PDF or SVG for your printer.

What are some ideas for food in a box?

Match the food to the box: pizza in the Pizza box, a hot meal in the Takeout box and food served open in the Food tray box. Pasta and other dry goods go in the Pasta box, cereal and snacks in printed paperboard cartons, loose tea in the Tea box and pastries in the Bakery box.

Can ChatGPT create mockups?

An AI image tool can draw a picture of a box, but not at your inside size with a dieline that matches it. Here the 3D box is built from its dieline, so the image you render and the file you print agree.

Is a food box mockup the same as food-safe packaging?

No. A mockup shows how the box will look. Food-contact approval comes from the board, ink and coating your supplier uses, so confirm it with them.

Which food box should I use for takeout?

Use the Takeout box, a tray whose hinged lid has a front flap that folds down over the front wall, for meals, the Pizza box for pizza and the Food tray box for items served open. The Pizza box is corrugated, 1.5 or 3 mm thick here; the Takeout box is 0.5 mm paperboard.

Where does the nutrition and ingredients text go on a food carton?

Usually on a side or the back panel of a carton such as the Cereal box. Text has to be part of the artwork you upload, so set it in your design file first, and check local labeling rules with your printer.

Can I show the food box open?

Yes. Move the fold slider between Flat, Open and Closed and render the box with the lid open; the Bakery box and the Food tray box stop at Flat and Closed. Switch the flat editor to Inside to print what shows when it opens.

Can I make a food box mockup for free?

Browsing the boxes and turning them in 3D is free. Log in with an email code or Google to upload artwork, save projects and render images. Exporting a rendered image or a dieline needs a free account; rendering and downloads are free right now.
