Wiki
Pro Display XDR
Pro Display XDR is Apple's 32-inch Retina 6K display for professional work, announced on June 3, 2019 alongside the Mac Pro and released on December 10, 2019.[1][2] It introduced a 6016 × 3384 panel with 1,600 nits of peak brightness, an aluminum lattice back that works as a heat sink, and the separately sold Pro Stand.[1][3]
Display
The 32-inch IPS LCD has 6016 × 3384 pixels at 218 ppi in a 16:9 aspect ratio.[3] A backlight with 576 local dimming zones gives 1000 nits of sustained full-screen brightness, a 1600-nit peak for HDR content and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio.[3] The glass runs edge to edge with 9 mm borders, and Apple offered it in standard or nano-texture glass.[3][4] For full-screen art, work at 6016 × 3384 pixels.[3]
Lattice back and enclosure
The lattice pattern on the rear is machined into the aluminum, and it is the same pattern Apple used on the Mac Pro announced with the display.[4] Apple says the lattice more than doubles the surface area exposed to air and acts as a heat sink, which lets the display sustain 1,000 nits of full-screen brightness indefinitely.[1][4] Without a stand, the display is 71.8 cm wide, 41.2 cm high and 2.7 cm deep and weighs 7.48 kg, with one upstream Thunderbolt 3 port and three USB-C ports.[3]
Pro Stand and mounts
The Pro Stand and the VESA Mount Adapter were sold separately from the display.[3] The Pro Stand tilts from –5° to +25°, adjusts 120 mm in height, rotates the display from landscape to portrait and attaches with a magnetic connector.[4] The VESA Mount Adapter fits 100 x 100 mm stands and mounts.[4] In March 2026, Apple replaced Pro Display XDR with the 27-inch Studio Display XDR.[5]
